About this project “The Arab world has been living in continuous turmoil for many decades. We are all still striving to find some kind of unity and enjoy a life of beauty and harmony, in the midst of chaos, corruption, bad rulership, sectarian conflicts, religious extremism, social divisions, economic problems, racism, ignorance and more. The need to search for inspiration in sources of humanism and love that can reduce animosity and build peace, prosperity and justice in our part of the world is bigger than ever. The positive sources of inspiration are there, amongst us, presented by artists, poets, philosophers, thinkers, scientists and all the many heroes of everyday life. It has been a great honour for me to compose music to great inspiring poems from different poets of the Arab world, whose intellects have intersected on the same worries, at different places and moments in time. Being a visual artist myself and a big fan of street art, I painted some murals on the walls of the Arab world, and even in Oslo (Norway), one of the cities to which Arabs flee from the terrible situatiions in their countries. Those murals are an attempt to express the essence of the timeless poetry I chose, and to mirror the situation in the Arab streets today. “Intersection” is a new path in my career, an audiovisual experiment, mixing Arabic poetry, classical Arabic melodies, street art, Arabic calligraphy and contemporary electronic sounds. It describes the state of the Arab world, standing still, at an intersection between East and West, religious beliefs, extremism and moderation, good and evil, war and peace... It is about time to decide which way to go. My humble aim, in this project, is to transmit the idea of a possible common cultural ground to the next Arab generations. After all, our dialects may differ, but we all speak the same language.” - Tania Saleh

عن هذا العمل «منذ قرن كامل، ما زال عالمنا العربي يعيش حالة من عدم الاستقرار والغليان والتخلف. وما زلنا، نحن العرب، شعوبا وأفرادا، نحاول النهوض ببلداننا وإنقاذها من هذا الواقع المظلم. وأمام خطورة الانقسامات الحادة في مجتمعاتنا العربية، وبلوغ التطرف الديني حد الإرهاب وإلغاء الاخر، وفي ظل التحديات العالمية الكبرى، نحن اليوم بحاجة أكثر من أي وقت مضى لإشاعة قيم المحبة والإلفة والتعاون فيما بيننا. ولعل نخب بلادنا، علماءها، مفكريها، فلاسفتها، شعراءها، فنانيها في كل الميادين، أضاؤوا وما زالوا يضيئون الظلام بأفكارهم وإنجازاتهم وإبداعاتهم، إضافة الى أناس عاديين ينشطون للرقي ببلدانهم، ويجهدون من أجل تقدمها وازدهارها. ومن هذه الإضاءات ما عثرت عليه في قصائد عدد من الشعراء العرب الذين تقاطعت خواطرهم(ن) وتناولوا في اشعارهم(ن) الهموم والقضايا ذاتها رغم اختلاف أمكنتهم(ن) وأزمنتهم(ن)، وكان لي شرف تلحين بعضها وغنائه. ومستعينة بما حصلته من دراستي الأكاديميه للفن التشكيلي، وشغفي بفن الشارع، حاولت التعبير بلغة بصرية تواكب هذا العمل السمعي، تمثلت في جداريات رسمتها في عدد من الدول العربية، وفي العاصمة النروجية أوسلو التي احتضنت أعدادا كبيرة من العرب الهاربين من بلدانهم. أردت  من هذا العمل السمعي-البصري التذكير بالرسائل التي اراد الشعراء إيصالها، كما أردت نقل صورة معبرة عن واقع الشارع العربي كما هو اليوم.  “تقاطع” هو نهج جديد اعتمدته اليوم في مسيرتي الفنية، عمل يزاوج بين الشعر العربي والألحان الشرقية وفن الشارع والخط العربي، مع الموسيقى الإلكترونية المعاصرة.  هذا العمل هو محاولة لنقل صورة عن عالمنا العربي الذي يقف اليوم مهتزا” حائرا” على مفترق مسارات وتناقضات وتحديات. هو محاولة متواضعة للمشاركة بإيجاد أرضية ثقافية جامعة تبني عليها الأجيال العربية القادمة منصات ثابتة وموحدة الأهداف للإنطلاق نحو غد أفضل. فنحن في نهاية المطاف مهما تبدلت لهجاتنا ولكناتنا تجمعنا لغة واحدة.» - تانيا صالح

About the music producer “Khalil Judran is an international sound artist, electronic music composer and producer. This enigmatic activist musician grew up in Tunisia and has contributed to numerous experimental and underground music projects, including «Checkpoint 303». His sound art and his collaborations are a bold stance against oppression, injustice, self-censorship and dogmatism. His carefully crafted musical soundscapes explore multiple genres, ranging from experimental electronica to downtempo, dubstep, breakbeats and drum'n'bass. The meeting between Tania Saleh and Khalil Judran, which was made possible by the Norwegian label KKV, gave rise to an unexpected, yet natural musical explosion, where edgy post-pop electronica flirts with magical Oriental melodies and powerful contemporary Arab poetry.
